Times are tough and trading is difficult or even non-existent. Even so, it’s vital to do some marketing to keep your business visible, so that people remember you when things eventually improve.
As Michelle Spillane, Paddy Power’s Marketing Director, said in a recent Marketing Week webinar: “If you lose people now to other platforms, other brands and other channels, you’ll find it very difficult to win them back.”
“Go for growth, keep the lights on, keep investing in what you have, but be ambitious. It’s a great time for content right now.
Boost your online presence
People are going online more frequently and staying on for longer too. They’re looking for ideas to improve their lives or their homes and researching potential items to buy. And while they may not be able to use your service right now, they will still be interested, and will have time to read the content you share.
Create new content
While business is slow, this is an opportunity to share your knowledge. How about creating a series of blog posts, virtual consultations, video demos or an e-book? Instagram is a great platform to showcase your business by sharing photos and videos too. These could be of upcoming products, case studies or a tour of your workplace perhaps. Do ask for ideas.
Everyone is dealing with social distancing differently, so it’s worth finding out what potential customers would like from your business right now? How can you help them?
Upgrade your website’s SEO
You’ll need to make sure people can quickly find your website by making sure your pages feature near the top of search results. Improving your SEO now will also put you in the best place to take advantage of the recovery when it happens. If you’re still operating in some way, make it clear on your homepage, so you don’t miss out on potential business.
