FAQ’s
What does Two Lizards do?
We do advertising and marketing which helps to bring in more business for you. Everything from initial planning and brand development/design to complete, optimised websites, emailings and newsletters, leaflets, brochures, direct and database marketing and much more.
Do you do everything an advertising agency does?
Yes – and unlike many advertising and marketing agencies, we can make faster responses, are generally lighter on our feet and are happy to make meetings at our clients’ offices as well as our own.
Would you expect to deal with every aspect of our marketing?
Not unless you wanted us to. You can commission us to work on just one aspect of your marketing if you wish.
Is there a typical Two Lizards client?
Yes. Our typical client tends to be a company which has already gone through their launch and are now looking to ‘move up a gear’ – with clear objectives, a properly thought-through strategy and marketing budget. They often want marketing partners with whom they can sit down on a regular basis, analyse results and fine tune the strategy accordingly.
How do I know where to start?
You don’t need to. Start by telling us about your business and what you want to achieve and we’ll take it from there, usually starting with a strategy.
Can I have a general chat about my requirements?
Of course. The clock doesn’t start ticking until you have definitely commissioned us to do something for you.
Do you do printed materials as well as websites?
Yes. As our background was originally direct marketing, we are very much at home with designing, commissioning and managing print.
Do you do brand design from scratch?
Yes, we are used to working with new businesses and helping them develop a point of difference in their chosen market sector. We have a huge range of experience including charity, financial, beauty, education, business to business (B2B), business to consumer (B2C), retail and IT.
Can you improve our website?
We don’t usually undertake the improvement of websites although we occasionally advise on rewriting content. If a site is proving unsatisfactory, it is often difficult, or impossible, to make a real difference to its performance and better to create a new one. However, in this instance, not everything needs to be re-created from scratch. For example, the written content can sometimes be re-edited as necessary.
I have already registered a domain – is that OK?
No problem. You just need to make a note of when it will need to be renewed.
What is hosting?
The hosting company (who may or may not be the same as company your domain is registered with) store your website on their system, usually manage your website email and expose the site to Google. Reputable hosting companies also back up websites so they can be reinstated if there’s a technical glitch. Some, but not all, provide telephone or online support and troubleshooting.
I have already bought a hosting package – is that a problem?
Not necessarily. But we usually recommend you use one of our preferred hosting companies because we know they provide good quality backup and support, and are UK based. If you want to stay with your own choice of hosting company, we can’t be responsible if something goes wrong their end.
Will you write everything or can I draft what I want to say?
You can draft as much or as little as you wish, or supply finished copy if you prefer. We discuss your requirements and plan accordingly.
Do you supply photography?
We can, but it isn’t included in our initial estimates as each job is different. For some projects, stock (library) photography is appropriate, for others, photography needs to be specially commissioned. And, of course, we can use your company’s photography if the quality is suitable for the job.
How do you work?
We discuss your requirements in detail, produce a detailed proposal and estimate and send it to you along with our terms and conditions of business. This sets out exactly how we would manage the project. If you are happy with the estimate we would produce a purchase order and an initial deposit of 30% of the total cost of the project would be required before starting.
What if I don’t like something?
Just tell us! (It helps if you tell us what you don’t like). We’ll then do our best to put it right. If you change your mind about something you have written or asked us to do, we may charge extra – all this is set out in our terms and conditions.
Do you do optimisation of websites?
Yes, we always optimise any site we create. But we are unusual in that we also offer ongoing optimisation – working with clients to improve traffic to their websites and improve the performance and rankings of their sites after they have launched.
How do we find out the best keywords for my website?
We would usually undertake keyword research as part of any new website project, as well as discussing with the client their views on important keywords, phrases and search terms. Keyword research is not achieved at the press of a button. It is skilled and painstaking and requires a focused strategy. You can read more about our thoughts on this subject here.
Are local business listing websites are a good idea?
They can be, depending on how ‘local’ your business is or wants to appear. But Google is increasingly looking for a discriminating approach to local business listings. Our helpful Business Listing Analysis service can help you with this and includes links to relevant and respected sites.
Can you help me with Privacy wordings etc?
Yes. Our direct marketing roots mean we are at home with privacy and data protection issues and we ensure our knowledge is up to date and reflects current policy at the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office).
What sort of budget do I need?
Discuss your requirements with us first and we can usually give you a ballpark figure. If you are happy with that then we would provide a detailed estimate setting out exactly what budget is required to complete your project. Alternatively, if you have a specific budget in mind, please tell us! If possible we would always do our best to make your budget work as hard as possible for you.
